FAQ’s

How much does cinema advertising cost?
Customers are often surprised at the value for money of cinema advertising considering it rates number 1 for attention capturing — there are no distractions or ad wastage. You can get unrivalled engagement before every movie starting from approximately $250 per week. This varies per location due to factors including average admissions, length of time on screen and booking period. To understand how much budget you will need to invest simply get in contact.
How does cinema advertising compare to digital marketing?
Cinema advertising and digital marketing share many similar characteristics — which is why they work well together. Both mediums help target local audiences and get higher response rates with video. Clients find they have a better response on their social campaigns when they are already famous. Cinema advertising has been proven to extend the reach and incremental revenues of digital marketing campaigns, with the big screen and the small screen making a powerful combination.
How does cinema advertising compare to other advertising mediums?
Clients love cinema advertising because they know they are speaking directly to and being seen and heard by a local audience. With many advertising mediums you have to fight through the noise to gain attention — with cinema the attention is already guaranteed. We always recommend a layered approach to advertising in your local market for maximum effectiveness. At the bare minimum a combination of social media marketing and cinema advertising. Some of our clients use cinema advertising as the lead actor and others in a supporting role to boost their campaign's effectiveness. What other advertising medium offers you a highly engaged non-distracted audience like cinema?
I do not have an ad ready — what should I do?
No problems. Like any advert production, options will depend on your budget — from utilising some of your imagery and video content, to a production from scratch, there are many options available. Your creative is incredibly important in making your advertising effective and connecting with the cinema audience. We can help you achieve an effective outcome no matter your budget.
I have an ad ready — what next?
Too easy! Depending on availability we could have you live and on screen within 7 days. All video requires conversion to a DCP (Digital Cinema Package) before it goes live on screen. We'll help arrange the conversion for you as part of your booking.
How long does my cinema ad need to be?
Most of our clients screen a 30 second advert. 15, 45 and 60 second slots are also available depending on your budget.
What movies will I be shown before?
One of the great things about the OzCoWilliams cinema advertising packages we offer is that you will be on all available screens before every movie every day. This means you will never miss your audience. At cinemas with Gold Class, this comes as an optional upgrade depending on availability.
What is the minimum booking commitment?
The longer you are on screen the more impact you will make. Most clients who book 12 months stay well beyond — in fact we have had one client that has not been off screen since 2010. We recommend 12 months for local bricks-and-mortar businesses to achieve the maximum benefit, although we have some clients who utilise 1 month and 3 month bookings in conjunction with short term campaigns.
What rating does my cinema ad have to be?
As you will be seen before all movies, your content must be G rated for general exhibition.
How far in advance do I need to book?
With the increased demand and limited number of slots available due to long-term year-round advertisers, we would always recommend booking at least 3 months in advance. However, subject to availability and you having an advert ready, it is possible to have you on screen within 7 days.
What are the payment terms for cinema advertising?
Payment is monthly in advance of screening. Some exceptions can apply.
What cinemas do you have access to?
We are advertising partners with most major Australian cinema networks — including Birch Carroll and Coyle (BCC) and Event Cinemas — alongside leading independents Cinebar, Cineplex, and Limelight Cinemas throughout Queensland. We can also help you extend your reach at cinemas around the country through our network partnerships.
Is OzCoWilliams Australian owned?
OzCoWilliams is the only Queensland and Australian owned and operated cinema advertising company partnered with the leading cinema chains. This often gives comfort to Queensland owned and operated businesses, schools and councils who care about investing locally.
