Cinema Advertising Guides

Straight answers to the questions we get asked most. No jargon, no run-around - if you're weighing up the big screen, start here.

  • How does cinema advertising work?

Cinema advertising works by playing your commercial in the pre-show block that runs before the movie trailers, in the specific cinemas you choose. You pick the cinemas and the campaign length, and supply an ad or we will help you produce a new one. We convert it to cinema format and schedule it, and it then plays before every session, every film, every day at those cinemas for the time you have booked.

  • How long are cinema ads?

Most cinema ads are 15 or 30 seconds. 15 seconds is the standard short slot and 30 seconds suits a full local commercial, with 45, 60 and 90 seconds available for longer narrative ads. The whole pre-show advertising block before the trailers usually runs five to fifteen minutes.

  • How much does cinema advertising cost?

In Queensland, cinema advertising starts from around $250 per week for a 15-second ad in a single cinema, and from $400 per week for a 30-second ad. Cinema advertising investment is driven by how many cinemas you book, how long your ad is, how many weeks you run, and whether you need the commercial produced. Producing an ad from scratch is priced by ad length - $500 to $3,000 plus GST for a 15-second commercial and $2,000 to $5,000 plus GST for a 30-second; converting an existing video to cinema format costs a small fee.
